Shutdown & Turnaround Contractor
Planned shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency maintenance for resources, energy, and infrastructure operators across Australia.
OSOS Global Services delivers shutdowns and turnarounds across Australia. Multi-discipline crews mobilised from Perth, Kalgoorlie and South Lismore. ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certified. One contractor, one scope of works, accountable from pre-shutdown planning through to handover and start-up.

Why
OSOS
Every shutdown that runs a day over costs the principal more than the contractor’s day rate.
Scope creep, scaffold delays, late material call-offs, a fitter who isn’t ticketed for the job that’s now on the front of the schedule. The cost shows up in production loss, not in the contractor invoice, and it shows up faster than most programmes recover from.
OSOS delivers shutdowns under a single contract, with multi-discipline crews managed by one supervisor. Pre-mob planning is documented before the team boots up at site. ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certification is current and audited. If you’re shortlisting shutdown contractors for a WA project, the credentials and capability you need to confirm are on this page.

PLANNED SHUTDOWNS
Programme-driven shutdown deliver
Scheduled shutdowns for fixed plant, processing trains, and supporting infrastructure. Pre-mob planning, scope definition, resource loading, and SWMS development before crews arrive at site. Multi-discipline trades on a single contract: mechanical, civil, electrical and instrumentation, access, and supervision.

TURNAROUNDS
Scope-controlled turnaround works
Turnaround scopes for processing facilities, energy assets, and industrial sites. Detailed work pack development, dependency mapping, and crew sequencing built around the principal’s start-up window. Documented progress reporting and sign-off at each milestone, not a verbal handover at the end of the shift.

EMERGENCY MAINTENANCE
Rapid mobilisation for unplanned events
Unplanned shutdowns and emergency maintenance response for sites already in production loss. Crews mobilised within agreed response windows. Multi-discipline scope deployed under a single point of accountability, so the principal isn’t coordinating three contractors while the asset is down.
MULTI-DISCIPLINE CAPABILITY ON SITE
Most shutdowns require more than one trade. The risk of splitting that scope across separate contractors shows up in interface disputes, idle crews waiting on another contractor’s hand-off, and cost overruns that weren’t in the programme.
OSOS deploys the following disciplines on a single shutdown contract:
- Mechanical fitting and millwright
- Civil and structural works
- Electrical and instrumentation (EIC)
- Scaffolding, access, and rigging
- Supervision and shutdown coordination
One crew. One scope. One point of accountability from mobilisation to start-up.
Certifications and Pre-Qualification Credentials
OSOS holds the following certifications and pre-qualification credentials, current and audited:

- ISO 9001: Quality Management
- ISO 14001: Environmental Management
- ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety
- ICN Gateway listed supplier
- Solar Accreditation Australia (Clean Energy Council member)
- ECA WA member

Remote Mobilisation
Pilbara, Goldfields, and eastern-state shutdowns
Most of OSOS’s shutdown work is delivered on remote sites. Crews mobilise from Perth, Kalgoorlie and South Lismore to mine sites, processing facilities, and energy assets across the Pilbara, the Goldfields, and the eastern states.
Remote site experience covers FIFO and DIDO rosters, accommodation logistics, site induction compliance, and equipment delivery to locations more than 600km from Perth.
For shutdowns on the east coast, OSOS mobilises from regional bases or partners with local labour where the contract structure benefits the principal.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a shutdown contractor do?
A shutdown contractor plans and executes a planned or unplanned stoppage of industrial plant for maintenance, inspection, or repair. Scope ranges from a single fixed-plant component to a full processing-train turnaround. The contractor is responsible for pre-shutdown planning, on-site execution across multiple trades, and handing the asset back to the principal at start-up. OSOS Global Services delivers shutdowns across Australia for mining, energy, and industrial operators.
What's the difference between a shutdown, a turnaround, and emergency maintenance?
A shutdown is any stoppage of plant for maintenance or inspection. A turnaround is a larger, scope-defined shutdown, usually programmed annually or biennially around a processing facility’s overhaul cycle. Emergency maintenance is unplanned: a failure on running plant that requires immediate stoppage and repair. OSOS delivers all three under the same multi-discipline contract structure.
How quickly can OSOS mobilise to a remote WA site?
Mobilisation timeframes depend on scope and crew composition. For planned shutdowns, OSOS works to the principal’s programme. For emergency response, crews mobilise from Perth or Kalgoorlie within agreed response windows specified in the contract. Recent emergency mobilisations have reached Pilbara and Goldfields sites within 24-48 hours.
What certifications should a shutdown contractor hold for resource sector work?
Most resource-sector principals require ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety), ISO 9001 (quality management), and ISO 14001 (environmental management) as pre-qualification minimums. Some contracts also require ICN Gateway listing, OFSC for offshore work, or specific site-induction compliance. OSOS holds ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certification and is listed on the ICN Gateway.
Can OSOS deliver multi-discipline shutdown scope under a single contract?
Yes. OSOS delivers mechanical, civil, electrical and instrumentation, scaffolding, and supervision under a single contract. The principal manages one contract, one supervisor, and one programme rather than coordinating three or four contractor interfaces during a shutdown window.
